General info

SSDA scuba diving centre educates scuba divers to become certified recreational Sidemount scuba divers, to continue their scuba diving education using the Sidemount and to remain dedicated to Sidemount scuba diving.

Diving Sidemount brings the underwater world close to a scuba diver and makes scuba diving natural and light. Sidemount also allows scuba diving with more than one air tank. More important is that Sidemount enables effortless buoyancy and hover performance. Thus, it is a favourite scuba diving setup among photographers and videographers, who need a shaky-free photo and video taking, and others who struggle with hover and buoyancy or who prefer to have abundant reserve of air. Sidemount combined with Nitrox guarantee extended bottom time within leisure scuba diving limits. Who among scuba divers would not like that?!

With SSDA you can start and finish the scuba diving course or speciality in Singapore or you can start in Singapore and finish in one of SSDA scuba diving destinations.

How is that possible?

SSDA provides Global Referral From to an instructor at SSDA scuba diving destination which states that a scuba diving student has completed an academic and confined water portion of the scuba diving course and that’s ready to undertake the open water portion of the course which is necessary for certification.

Important to note is that before starting a scuba diving course, a student candidate has to demonstrate swimming skills. The swimming evaluation must be completed prior to any scuba skill being taught and includes 200m swim or 400m snorkel swim and 10min treading water.

Not a swimmer or not confident in the water, but want to become a scuba diver? Not a problem. Enrol in a Snorkeler course. Upon successful completion of this course, you may enrol in the "Open Water Scuba Diver Course”.

Minimum age 18 or 10 through 17, with written parental consent.

Students between the ages of 10 through 14 may obtain an Junior Open Water Scuba Diver Certification if the following conditions are met: junior students are to train and dive under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or active dive professional. When an Junior Open Water Diver reaches the age of 15, they may upgrade to an Open Water Scuba Diver certification.

Truly ejoyed Eva's coaching. She was very clear with her instructions and very patient as well. Most importantly. She was willing to provide advice on other scuba related topic. Fruitful training sessions :)

Sidemount has been nothing but short of amazing experience. It feels like I'm diving without an air tank when I'm under the sea. It gave you the thrill of diving into small enclosed area where backmount doesn't allows you to. Don't be judgy about sidemount until you give it a try. Besides, why not be adventurous and try out something new? ;)

‘Eva was my side-mount speciality instructor. I was lucky to meet her during one of leisure dives. Personally, it was so cool to dive differently and I am always eager to try out new things. After an on-line course, I have a better understanding of this cool way of diving. Sidemount is much more natural, easier and safer to dive than backmount, e.g. it provides the flexibility to dive with two independent air supply system with two separate tanks. Sidemount is the most natural way of diving which brings diver closer to the underwater and more connected with the environment. The other amazing thing to me is that I can dive without any weights as
Sidemount is giving me perfect buoyancy, which gives me a wonderful feeling of freedom. As what mentioned in Eva's logo, I become UML - unique, mobile and light... Thanks to Eva! I love this feeling a lot!
Eva was always positive and encouraging during the course. She made the course interesting, even during the pool sessions. She taught me how to feel the buoyancy of my body and frog kicks. Thanks to her recommendation, I managed to buy a cool jet fins and unique BCD at a discounted rate.
If you would like to try out this unique, safer and cooler way of diving. I would recommend her as your instructor. Dive safely & have fun, buddy! May the force be with you :D
